The Google 3-Pack is the method Google uses to display the top three (best optimized) results for search engine result pages. It uses the users location to make the search relevant to the location where the user submitted the query.

What are citations? Why are they important?

Citations are a key component of the ranking algorihms of the major search engines.  Other factors being equal, businesses with a greater number of citations will probably rank higher than businesses with fewer citations. Also, citations validate that a business is part of a community.
